Tallest building in the world, made for $1.5 billion. The financial crisis meant the building had to be renamed for the united arab emirates president who bailed Dubai out.

Built on stilts, construction ignored safety to cut corners. any storm could have knocked it down. rather than own up, workers were hired at night to do secret repairs.

The exterior was a beautiful marble that was weak & cracked. A huge slab detached, pulverizing the ground. Refacing with granite cost $80 million.
