How To Peel An Orange Without Making A Sticky Mess

Love the taste of oranges but hate the effort (and mess) that goes into peeling one?

In an office environment, you can forget typing on a keyboard, sifting through papers or holding a pen after devouring the treat — wet wipes or a trip to the bathroom sink are mandatory.

But now there is something to ease the burden: A technique of unravelling oranges, rather than peeling, that is making waves online.

The four-step process is outlined in a blog post at Jewel Pie, and is said to be less messy and time-consuming than traditional peeling. Basically, it confirms that everything you have been doing until now is wrong. Here’s Jewel Pie’s step-by-step instructions on how to peel an orange:

Cut the top off the orange, resulting in a circle of skin.
Cut the bottom off the orange in exactly the same manner.
Make an incision length-wise down the orange being sure not to cut the flesh, just the skin. Start from where you made your top cut and work your way down to the bottom cut.
Then unravel the orange with each segment revealed. It should uncoil easily by pulling both the right and left sides.

The trick is garnering mixed reactions online. While some praise the method, others are doubtful that it works.
