‘Happy New Year’ fails to break ‘Kick’ records

Bollywood Badshah Shahrukh Khan’s recent release ‘Happy New Year’, despite getting mixed response from critics is minting at Box Office. The movie has made Rs 154 crore in the domestic market. Well despite it’s successful run at the box-office, has been unable to to break the opening weekend record of Salman Khan’s ‘Kick’, released earlier this year.

As per sources, While SRK starrer ‘Happy New Year’ grossed Rs 134 crore in the first week, Salman’s ‘Kick’ record stands unbeaten at Rs 155 crore. SRK’s ‘Happy New Year’ is being well appreciated by the family audience and has shown growth in it’s earnings during the second weekend.

Sources further added that, ‘Happy New Year’ has had a good run in the overseas market. The movies worldwide figures stood at Rs 245 crore (at the end of first week), which is the fourth highest total ever after ‘Dhoom 3′, ‘Kick’ and ‘Chennai Express’.
