ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has removed Pervaiz Rashid as Minister for Information over a leaked story published in daily English paper ‘Dawn’, according to reports on Saturday.
The ministry has been taken back from Pervaiz Rashid until the probe of story is not completed by the inquiry committee.
The story was published on October 6, in which journalist Cyril Almeida had written about an alleged civilian and military rift during the high level security meeting over the issue of tackling militant outfits.
An inquiry committee comprises officials from ISI, IB and MI will investigate into the matter.
The reporter of Dawn, Cyril Almeida was put and later removed from the Exit Control List over the report.
The story drew an outpour of criticism with the military stating that it was fed to the reporter and demanded investigations into it.
